The RE-WIRING team recently participated in a technical expert workshop organized by the OECD Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs. The workshop aimed to address structural gender inequalities in EU and OECD countries, as part of a project commissioned by the European Commission (EC) Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers to support their efforts to advance gender equality after the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-25.
During the workshop, experts discussed key statistical indicators of gender equality and brainstormed policy combinations and innovative strategies to close gender gaps in various areas, including education, paid and unpaid work, health, digital and green transitions, among others.
The RE-WIRING team, represented by Linda Senden (online) and Karen Johnston (in person), were invited to comment on key indicators of gender equality, institutional mechanisms for supporting gender equality and on policies to advance gender equality.
The workshop, held at the Albert Borschette Center in Brussels on April 23, 2024, provided a platform for fruitful exchanges and collaboration among experts from diverse backgrounds.
The RE-WIRING team remains committed to advancing gender equality and looks forward to future opportunities to contribute to meaningful policy development in this area.
