Dr. Elena Ghidoni, member of the RE-WIRING project, recently presented her paper titled “Facing the Polluting Effect of Stereotypes on Evidence: CEDAW’s Efforts to Address Gender-Based Discriminatory Narratives” at the international conference “Féminisme, droit et citoyenneté II“. The event was hosted by the Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne on September 9 and 10.
In her presentation, Dr. Ghidoni explored the concept of transformative equality from an institutional perspective, specifically focusing on how stereotypes impact evidentiary reasoning in cases concerning women’s rights. Her work underscores the importance of addressing and dismantling gender-based discriminatory narratives to promote justice and equality, aligning with the broader goals of CEDAW (the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women).
Dr. Ghidoni’s contribution highlights the critical need for legal frameworks to evolve and tackle ingrained biases in order to foster more equitable societies.
