Posted by

The San Sebastian campus of the University of Deusto is hosting the opening of the virtual exhibition “extraORDINARY WOMEN: Women and Work in Gipuzkoa.”

The exhibition highlights the historically overlooked contributions of women to Gipuzkoa’s economy by showcasing pieces of great artisanal and artistic value from Gordailua, San Telmo Museoa, and Kutxa Fundazioa.

📅 Date: Wednesday, March 12
Time: 12:00 PM
📍 Location: Tokiski Room, San Sebastian campus, University of Deusto

As part of the RE-WIRING research program—funded by the European Union and dedicated to reversing gender inequalities—this exhibition pays tribute to women’s roles in the economic development of Gipuzkoa.

It brings together remarkable objects that illustrate women’s relationships with work, particularly during the region’s industrialization. Additionally, artist Irati Cano presents an audiovisual piece specially commissioned for the exhibition, offering a thought-provoking reflection on false dichotomies: analog vs. digital, reproductive vs. productive, masculine vs. feminine.

Speakers at the opening event:

🔹 Xabier Riezu – Vice Rector of the San Sebastian campus and Head of Language Policy, University of Deusto

🔹 Ainara Martin – Exhibition and Digital Content Curator

🔹 Miren Gutiérrez – Exhibition Director

🔹 Dolores Morondo – Principal Researcher at RE-WIRING

🔹 Lorena Fernández – Director of Digital Identity at the University of Deusto & RE-WIRING Communications Lead
