WP1 sets up a Theory and Methods Innovation Lab, within which the foundations are laid for a context- and crisis-sensitive, systematic analysis of dynamics of intersectional gendered power hierarchies and an assessment of the effectiveness and unwanted effects of laws and policies. In this Innovation Lab, the research group will review the recent conceptual and theoretical literature on gendered power hierarchies, considering the differing cultural contexts, different dimensions of power that generate systematic and structural forms of discriminations, social and economic inequalities and gender-based violence. On this basis a taxonomy of gendered power hierachies will be developed in order to identify key concepts and indicators on the basis of which an interdiciplinary, intersectional Transformative Equality Approach (TEA). The TEA as a theoretical approach and research template, will serve as the over-arching conceptual and methological framework of the project.
RE-WIRING re-thinks existing institutional approaches and systems and aims to contribute to effective change that can only be brought about by a re-
design – re-wiring – of existing institutions including their formal and informal operating systems and legal, policy, and institutional approaches allowing for transformative equality in all domains of society. This working paper forms the theoretical foundation of the RE-WIRING Project, as it explores the perspectives and concepts in the literature from different disciplines concerning institutional, experiential, and symbolic dimensions of gendered power hierarchies

This deliverable goes beyond a standard guide to ethical requirements for research to provide an overview of the on-going scientific debates on the ethics of researching gendered power hierarchies. It includes ethical approaches and recommendations for addressing androcentric, binary and colonial biases in resaerch and increasing its transparency and scientific standards.
Building on the previous documentes (D1.1 and D1.2), this paper translates the findings and theories of transformative equality into a research methodology template, which will guide the research in the different RE-WIRING work packages. The template of the RE-WIRING Transformative Equality Approach (TEA)
builds on its main starting points, which shape the methodology of the project as well as the ‘transformative equality’ benchmarks.
