On July 17, the RE-WIRING consortium met in Utrecht for a full day of strategic discussions to assess progress, align ongoing work, and define priorities for the final phase of the project and its long-term legacy. The meeting took place at Utrecht University and brought together consortium members working across disciplines and regions.
The day opened with a steering committee session, where participants reviewed the coordination of work packages, discussed implementation updates, and planned the integration of upcoming deliverables.
In the afternoon, the full consortium convened for a working meeting covering a wide range of strategic topics. Participants reviewed the current status of project deliverables and discussed how to most effectively communicate RE-WIRING’s academic and policy outputs to various audiences, including EU institutions, national policymakers, and civil society. The consortium discussed ways to channel its research insights and practical tools into meaningful input that could help shape future EU policies on equality.
Another central topic was how to ensure the legacy and long-term impact of RE-WIRING. The group explored strategies to sustain the project’s findings, methodologies, and tools beyond its formal conclusion — including through continued academic collaboration, institutional partnerships, and potential new initiatives.
The meeting also served to coordinate preparations for several important upcoming events, including RE-WIRING’s presence at the Leuven Conference in February 2026 and participation in the Joint Horizon Europe Projects Conference in Brussels later this year.
Throughout the day, the consortium reaffirmed its shared commitment to advancing transformative equality and addressing the structural dimensions of gendered power hierarchies. The meeting marked a key moment to consolidate achievements and sharpen the project’s collective vision for driving institutional change across Europe and beyond.
