Pathways for Transformation: RE-WIRING Institutions for Inclusive, Equal and Just Futures

Leuven, Belgium – 5–6 February 2026

How do gender stereotypes, biases, and power hierarchies shape people’s life paths? How can institutions address the structural and intersectional inequalities, discrimination, and exclusions they create? These are the central questions of the final conference of the Horizon Europe RE-WIRING project, which will take place in Leuven, Belgium, on 5–6 February 2026.

The conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, civil society representatives, law- and policy-makers, and other stakeholders to share key findings, good practices, and practical tools developed during the project.

Participants will explore how gender stereotyping and hierarchies accumulate across different stages of life—from early childhood to education, work, family life, and public representation in leadership, media, and arts—and how these reinforce each other. The conference will also highlight concrete pathways for change and the role of institutions in promoting a transformative, intersectional approach to gender equality.

A special focus will be placed on practical actions and co-created tools, including strategies to advance gender equality even in times of crisis and backlash, such as promoting allyship and engaging men and boys.

Join us in Leuven to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and help drive lasting change for girls’ and women’s inclusion, representation, and empowerment.
